Online 30 #3 Flashcards

1
Q

What is a confidence interval?

A

the probability that a pop. parameter will fall between a set of values for a certain proportion of time
-it’s center is still the the sample mean, but there’s room on either side for uncertainty (MoE)

Q

What does a confidence interval tell you?

A

it tells how much of an amount in a population is true

Ex: if there’s a 95% confidence interval, then out of 100 samples, 95 contain the true pop. mean

Q

What is the margin of error?

A

like the confidence interval

-reflects the uncertainty that surrounds sample estimates of parameters like the mean or a proportion
