Branch of medicine that deals with the study, detection, treatment and management of cancer and neoplasia
ONCOLOGY
Increase in the number of the cells of a tissue; most often associated with period of rapid growth of the body.
HYPERPLASIA
Replacement of type of mature cell into another cell type
METAPLASIA
Bizarre cell growth, resulting in cells that differ in size, shape, arrangement from other cells of the same type of tissue
DYSPLASIA
Uncontrolled cell growth that follows no physiologic demand. New and abnormal development of cells that may be benign or malignant
NEOPLASIA
Cells that lack normal cellular characteristics and differ in shape and organization with respect to their cells of origin; usually anaplastic cells are malignant.

Avoid exposure to sunlight, use protective sunscreen, limit sun exposure between 10am-3pm
Avoid artificial sources of UV light
Avoid environmental & occupational carcinogens (arsenicals, pesticides, coal tar products)
Avoid frequent exposure to ionizing radiation
