OMM Cardio Flashcards
What are the somato-visceral dysfunctions that can lead to cardiac compromise?
Cranial, Cervical, or upper thoracic dysfunctions
What dysfunctions are related to the upper thoracics?
T1-4
Symp ganglia are from T1-L2 with close relationship to the rib heads
What dysfunctions are related to the cervical region?
Symp Cervical Ganglia: superior at C2/3, middle at C6, inferior at C7
What dysfunctions are related to the cranium?
Vagus emerges from the jugular foramen located between the occiput and temporal bones.
What is the path of the Left Vagus into the heart? what dysfunction does it predispose to?
Through the AV node.
Pre-disposes to AV Block
What is the path of the Right Vagus into the heart? what dysfunction does it predispose to?
Through the SA node
Pre-disposes to sinus Brady arrythmia
How is lymph drained from the Heart nd lungs?
Left thoracic duct
Where are the chapman’s points for the Myocardium and heart disease?
Between ribs 2 and 3 just lateral to the sternum (heart on the left).
What does the Left sympathetic chain innervate in the heart?
What does hyperactivity cause?
deep cardiac plexus, and AV nodes.
Ectopic Foci and Ventricular Fibrillation
What does the Right sympathetic chain innervate in the heart?
What does hyperactivity cause?
Right heart and SA Node
Supraventricular Tachyarrhythmias
