Q

180 degree line up - talk me through it and minimum width

A

Min width: 30m

FOR CM1:

  • Taxi on RHS of runway.
  • Turn left maintaining 25 degree divergence to centreline
  • Max ground speed is 10kt
  • (a319) about 2 meters before runway edge, turn nose wheel full right and set 30-35%. GS 5-8kts
  • (a320) commander needs to be physically over the runway edge before turning full right

Q

What is alternate fuel?

A
  • Fuel from MDA/DH to MISAP via MISAP procedure
  • From MISAP altitude to climb, cruise, descend to alternate from enroute transition point using expected arrival
  • Fuel for approach and landing at alternate
  • When two dest alts required = fuel to fly to further alternate

Q

Tell me about easyJets fuel conservation policy:

A
  • easyjet fuel policy is to carry
  • min amount of fuel necessary to
  • safely and efficiently complete the flight while
  • meeting regulatory requirements and
  • maintaining operational flexibility.

1) Must be specific purpose for all extra fuel or it should not be carried. Policy to load OFP unless sound operational reasons for loading extra fuel.
2) Basically Fuel Planing should be adopted unless performance / payload restrictions.
3) Total amount of fuel on board a/c must be sufficient for intended flight. It must include safe margin for contingencies.
4) Total Fuel for flight is specified on OFP. Will include extra fuel where experience on a route has shown that fight level restrictions of destination holding are common.
5) Commander retains final responsibility for adjusting the total fuel if, in their opinion, it is operationally justified.
6) Even with the best planning information and practices, not all factors can be foreseen. If the flight is well planned and executed, a diversion is not considered a failure.

A

OMA 1.4.1 - point 2 says:

“The commander, or the pilot whom conduct of fight has been delegated, shall, in an emergency situation that requires immediate decision and action or take any action he considers necessary for the safe outcome of the flight.

Q

What is the criteria for reducing contingency fuel to 3%

A
  • 3% or 5 minutes, what is more.
  • Need en-route alternate
  • Must be within 20% Flight plan distanec of destination
  • Must be within (20% + 50nm) or 25% flight plan distance on a radius from the route.

Q

If it is noticed than you will be below CNR at destination, what could you do to conserve fuel?

A
  • Reduce speed
  • Obtain more direct route
  • Fly closer to optimum flight level, taking into account for wind
  • select closer alternate
  • land and refuel
