A
It was an industrial area and one of the poorest and most deprived parts of London

Low income housing, Large amounts of derelict land and polluted waterways

A
- Most of the area was derelict, abandoned or occupied by low value land uses such as storage
- The deprived nature of the area meant that it was hoped that it would benefit hugely from the legacy of the games
- It is easily accessible from Central London and anywhere else in the UK, particularly by train and abroad

A
- The purchase of land under a single authority, the ODA
- Decontamination of land used for industrial purposes
- Electricity cables buried beneath the ground to improve access
- Landscaping to create natural habitats and improve the areas overall attractivness

- Excellent, modern sports arenas
A landscaped park with tourist attractions and natural habitats - The Athletes’ village now converted Into housing
- An improved aquatic environment, with footpaths and cycle ways
