The organised response by society (governments) to protect and promote health and wellbeing, and to prevent illness, injury and disability.

Australia’s health status in early 1900’s
A
- Poor housing, lead to dangerous health problems
- A lack of safe water and sanitation was the major problem, and lead to infectious diseases
- health care was very expensive, so many of peoples diseases were left untreated.

o Vaccines – Smallpox, polio, tuberculosis
o Antibiotics – Infectious diseases, e.g tuberculosis, syphilis
o MRI – Early detection, and therefore treatment, of cancers
