OIAs Flashcards
Deltoid OIA?
Origin: clavicle, acromion process, and the spine of scapula
Insertion: deltoid tuberosity of the humerus
Action: abduct, flex, extend, laterally rotate and medially rotate the arm
Brachialis OIA?
Origin: anterior distal humerus
Insertion: coronoid process of the ulna
Action: flexes forearm / elbow
Flexor Carpi Radialis action?
Flexes and abducts wrist
Infraspinatus OIA?
Origin: infraspinous fossa of the scapula
Insertion: greater tubercle of the humerus
Action: laterally rotate the arm and stabilize the GH joint
Pectoralis Minor OIA?
Origin: anterior surface of upper middle ribs
Insertion: coracoid process of the scapula
Action: depresses, protract and rotates the scapula
Triceps Brachii Long head OIA
Origin: infraglenoid tubercle of the scapula
Insertion: olecranon process of the ulna
Action: extends forearm/elbow and arm
Triceps Brachii Lateral OIA
Origin: proximal posterior surface of the humerus
Insertion: olecranon process of the ulna
Action: extends forearm/ elbow
Triceps Brachii Medial OIA
Origin: distal posterior surface of the humerus
Insertion olecranon process of the ulna
Action: extends forearm/ elbow
Biceps Brachii Long head OIA
Origin: supraglenoid tubercle of the scapula
Insertion: tuberosity of radius
Action: flexes arm, forearm and supinates forearm
Biceps Brachii Short head OIA
Origin: coracoid process of the scapula
Insertion: tuberosity of radius
Action: flexes arm and forearm
Coracobrachialis OIA
Origin: coracoid process of the scapula
Insertion: medial surface of the humerus
Action: flexes and adducts arm
Supraspinatus OIA
Origin: supraspinous fossa of the scapula
Insertion: greater tubercle of the humerus
Action: abducts arm and stabilizes GH joint
Subscapularis OIA
Origin: Subscapular fossa of the scapula
Insertion: Lesser tubercle of the humerus
Action: medially rotates the arm and stabilizes the GH joint
Trapezius Action
elevates, depresses, rotates and retracts the scapula
Rhomboid Minor OIA
Origin: spinous process of lower cervical and upper thoracic vertebrae
Insertion: vertebral border of the scapula (base of spine)
Action:rotates and retracts the scapula
