oceania Flashcards
be able to explain what a “ culture clash “ is.
when 2 different cultures come together and have very different beleifs of how to do things so they dont get along and thats how they clash.
explain how the Aborigine people and the European settelers had their own “culture clash”
the Aborigines don’t beleive in land ownership because of the envirnment that they live in.
define onshore flow.
during the day the land to heat up and the air starts to rise but the air over the ocean starts to sink, the air over the ocean starts to come over the land which brings the air down and that keeps evaporation down which means no rain for the island.
define offshore flow.
when the moon comes out and puts out no heat the air over the ocean starts to rise and releases heat and the air over the land starts to move offshore and bring down the air over the ocean which also means no rain.
what are some ways the ocean influenced life in oceania?
the water helped the people back then carry the blocks, it provided food, eco tourism, the ocean acts as a barrier, there would be a lot more conflict it the ocean wasn’t here.
why is water such a problem in this area?
theres not enough fresh water.
why is the animal population in this region in danger.
there’s not enough space because there crowded with people bc people and animals want to live where there is fresh water and when people and animals come together man will always win.
why is a region with this much space have an overcrowded problem?
When a lot of space is taken up by the ocean and the other half of the space is a desert it makes it hard to live there. there are mountains and the ring of fire, mountains aren’t a good living space. if all of this non livable space is taken up with the amount of space left that is livable but very hard to survive in then that makes it really crowded.
be able to explain how this region is really 2 in 1.
1 half is Australia and the other half is new zealand.
