Q

what is the job of protien in a cell?

A

protein is a large molecule that does most of the work in a cell and form part of the cell membrane.

Q

what is the job of lipids in a cell?

A

cells store energy in lipids for later use. lipids have more energy than carbohydrates.

Q

Define the process of Osmosis.

A

if the concentration of water is higher outside the cell than inside, the water moves outside the cell.

Q

explain how the egg lab represented Osmosis.

A

the concentration of each liquid got higher outside the egg than the concentration of the liquid inside the egg so the water slowly started to move outside the egg.

Q

why are plants green?

A

the green color comes from PIGMENT. pigment is colored chemical compounds that absorb light. the main pigment is CHLOROPYLL.

Q

what are the raw materials from cellular respiration?

A

glucose and oxygen.

17
Q

what are the new products made from cellular respiration.

A

carbon dioxide and water.

18
Q

where does cellular respiration take place?

A

in the mitochondria.

19
Q

define fermintation.

A

the process where some cells obtain energy from food without using oxygen.

20
Q

what are 3 differences between photosynthesis and cellular respiration? ( this will be on the test )

A

1). C.R. and Photosynthesis have different raw materials: C.R. has glucose and oxygen as raw materials and photosynthesis has oxygen and sugar.
2). photosynthesis is found in the chloroplast and the C.R. is found in the mitochondria.
3).C.R. breaks down sugar and makes energy, photosynthesis uses the sunlight as energy.
