what is occupational health
the development and promotion of a healthy and safe work environment. Protection and promotion of the health of works by preventing and controlling occuptaional diseases and accidents, and by eliminating occupational factors and conditions hazardous to health and safety at work.
what is workplace stress
harmful phsyical and emotional responses brought about when the job demands too much of a person who has low control over meeting these demands and over the situation, leading to stress.

factors unique to the job, role in the organisation, career development, interpersonal relationships, organizational structure/climate
what is ehalth surveillance
recognition of signs and symptoms of work related diseases, and understanding how work related infections occur.
why do we need health surveilence?
- measure the absoption of toxic substances
- look for adverse effects at an early stage
- identify work related diseases
- identify and protect those with an increased risk of developing adverse health effects.
primary, secondaru and tertiary prevention
primary is reducing the risk of disease, secondary is identifying helath problems before they become clinically apparent and tertiary is minimizing adverse clinical affects
