Q

A01

Define Operationalised behavioural categories

A

Behaviours need to be clearly identifiable & measurable
e.g agression=number of pushes,punches & kicks

Q

A01

What is time sampling

A

Researchers record all relevant behaviour at set points
e.g everything for 15 s, every 10m over a 1 hour observaton

Q

explain why researchers should assess relaibly of observational designs

A

Researchers should assess reliability of their own observation to see if its consist with other researchers observation by testing inter rater reliability

Q

What is inter-rater reliability

or inter-obsevr reliablity

A

Two(or more) trained observers conduct the same observation
* Researchser shoukd use same list of operationalised categories
* Conduct the observation seperateky
* compare the two independeltu produced data sets
* test a correlation (e.g spearmans rho)
