What are cardiovascular drugs?
they act on the heard, veins, arteries and blood vessels. Different types of drugs are used to treat various conditions and have different effects on the systems.
What do Anticoagulants do?
They are blood thinners that reduce clotting.
Ocular side effects of anticoagulants are:
hyphema (blood in the anterior chamber), subconjunctival or retinal hemorrhages, conjunctivitis and possible allergic reactions
What are Antianginals?
They stop Angina (chest pain)
What are ocular side effects of Antianginal?
No ocular side effects.
What are Antiarrhythmics?
Controls the heart beat
What are some ocular side effects of antiarrhythmics?
Deposits on the cornea, giving a halo effect, night vision foggy, keratitis sicca, optic neuritis and or optical neuropathy
What are Antihypertensives for?
To control High Blood pressure
What are the ocular side effects of antihypertensives?
Depending on the type the side effects can range from no side effects to “visual disturbances” photophobia, yellow cast to vision, blurred vision and problems with cataract surgery.
What are Antihyperlipidemics?
To help prevent hardening of arteries, contro cholestrol and triglycerides.
What are ocular side effects of Antihyperlipidemics?
usually no side effects can cause diplopia and blurred vision in a small amount of pxs
What are Cardiac Glycosides:
They slow the heart rate, but increase the force of its contraction
What are some of the ocular side effects of Cardiac Glycosides?
No side effect to blurred vision, and yellowish vision.
What are Central Nervous System Drugs?
Mainly used for stimulating or relaxing mental and physical activity
What are general ocular side effects of CNS drugs?
Miosis, mydriasis, decreased vision, allergic reactions, intraocular pressure changes and edema
