Differences
- The guidelines provided vice on serving sizes where is the pyramid only shows proportions
- The guidelines recommend limiting alcohol and saturated fat intake and the pyramid does not
- The pyramid suggest using herbs and spices and the guidelines don’t
Advantages/disadvantages of the healthy eating pyramid
Advantages
- it is visual, so is relatively easy to understand
- don’t need to have nutritional knowledge to follow it as it shows food, not nutrients
Disadvantages
- Does not include serving sizes
- doesn’t mention alcohol or other foods to limit
