1
Q

Why is NMR used (3)

A

Easy to obtain a spectrum
Only small amount of sample is necessary
Non-destructive

Q

Why is tetra methyl silane used as a standard (4)

A

Generates one sharp peak as it has one proton environment
Unreactive so will not affect the sample being analysed
Highly volatile so can be removed from the sample being tested after the analysis fairly easily
Peak always found on the far right of the spectrum
