Auxochrome

A

The chemical group present in a dye that enables the dye to link firmly to tissue. The group is usually charged, so the bond is concidered ionic.

Ex:
-Amino NH2
-Carboxyl COOH
-Sulfonic SO3
-Hydroxyl OH

Results

What should be the staining pattern seen after a methyl green-pyronin Y treatment?

A

DNA= Green to blue-green (methly green)
Nuclei = Green to blue green

RNA= Red to rose (pyronin)
Goblet cells= Mint Green
Immunoblasts & plasma cell cytoplasm= Intense red
