NRVs Flashcards
ADG and AGHE (define concepts)
based off of 5 guidelines
- maintain healthy weight
- eat form all five food groups
- avoid added sugars and sources of foods
- promote breastfeeding for women
- Food storage safety
Presented through a pictorial version of optimal diet where the plate represents all different food groups with relation to portion size
ADG and AGHE (Purpose)
The aim is to create the best diet to follow to prevent chronic disease and deficiencies within the general healthy population
ADG and AGHE (how are they developed)
collection of epidemiology studies, surveys, research and scientific evidence gathered to produce the NRVs in parallel with the food composition tables which provide information on vitamins and micronutrients.
This information is then processed through a food modelling system to provide the best diet. This is then presented through fact sheets and easily read information through the AGHE pictorial version and through the ADGs made simple and easy to read and understand.
UL
Upper limit
- upper level of limit that the general healthy population can have without toxicity. Based off of markers of toxicity.
AMDR
Adequate macronutrient dietary recommendation
above 14 years
- the range of intake of macronutrient (% of EER) to maximise health.
Fat = 20% to 35%
CHO = 45% to 65%
Protein = 15% to 25%
SDTs
Suggested Dietary targets
above 14 year olds
a specific amount of nutrient to prevent the development of chronic disease.
e.g. = 0.2% of EER of omega 3 fatty acids.
SDTs
Suggested Dietary targets
above 14 year olds
dietary intake of certain nutrient to prevent the development of chronic disease.
e.g. = 0.2% of EER of omega 3 fatty acids.
