A baby has just been born it, it is not crying or breathing and appears to be limp. What is the next step?
Warm and maintain normal temperature, position airway, clear secretions if needed, dry and stimulate.
The baby is found to be apneic and gasping after you have stimulated it what is the next step?
Positive pressure ventilaton, SpO2 monitor and consider attaching 3 lead
After initiating PPV the HR is still below 100, what is the next step?
Check chest movement, MR SOPA if needed and ETT or iGel if needed
What does the M stand for in MR SOPA?
Mask adjust or adjust the mask.
What does R stand for in MR SOPA?
Reposition the airway
What does the S stand for in MR SOPA?
Suction
What does the O stand for in MR SOPA?
Open mouth
How long do you attempt PPV before moving to MR SOPA?
15 seconds`
What does the P stand for in MR SOPA?
Pressure, as in adding PEEP to the BVM or increasing pressure on peep.
What does the A stand for in MR SOPA?
Airway adjunct, either an iGel or ETT
How long should you perform MR SOPA for?
30 seconds.
After you have completed MR SOPA and the HR is above 100 what is the next steps?
Post resuscitation care and monitoring
You have completed MR SOPA and the babies HR is below 60 what is the next step?
Intubate if not already done, intubate before starting chest compressions. CPR at a rate of 3:1.

ECG Monitor
How long do you chest compressions for before you recheck the HR?
60 seconds
You are rechecking the HR and you find the rate to still be below 60, what is the next step?
IV epinephrine
Consider hypovolemia
Consider Pneumothorax
