Acne is primarily treated by
OTC benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, retinoids, topical/oral antibiotics, systemic isotretinoin
Retinoids are a derivative of Vitamin A and help acne by
reducing adherence of keratinocytes in the oil gland
retinoids must be avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding since they are
teratogenic
Retinoids should be applied
daily at night with the correct (pea-sized) amount
a moisturizer & sunscreen should be used each morning
