Notes for upper myology Flashcards
What happens if there is damage to the recurrent branch of the MEDIAN nerve?
If there is damage to the recurrent branch of the median nerve, then this cause failure of us to oppose our thumbs because it will fuck up the oppenens pollicis m.
What innervates the adductor pollicis M?
Deep ulnar n.
What is the hypothenar eminence?
our pinky muscles
What innervates the hypothenar muscles?
Abductor digiti minimi m.
Flexor digiti minimi m.
Opponens digiti minimi m.?
Deep ulnar nerve
1st and 2nd lumbrical muscles are located where? and are innervated by what?
Palm of your hand
Begin at the index finger
Innervated by the median nerve
3rd and 4th lumbrical muscle are located where? and are innervated by what?
Palm of your hand
Innervated by deep ulnar nerve
What are the actions of the lumbrical m?
flex the mcp
extend the PIP and DIP
How many pads are there?
3
How many dabs are there?
4 (you want to dab an even number amount).
1st dorsal interosseous muscle
Goes from the thumbs metacarpal and abducts the 2nd digit
2nd dorsal interosseous muscle
Goes to the seconds digits metacarpal and abducts the third digit
3rd dorsal interosseous muscle
goes to the FOURTH digits to the third digit, abudcting the third digit the other way
4th dorsal interosseous muscle
comes off of the 5th metacarpal and goes to the 4th.
Lumbricals come off of what?
tendon of the flexor digitorum profundus
dorsal interossesous muscles
abduct the 2nd digit in what direction
laterally (away from midline)
dorsal interossesous muscles
abduct the 3rd digit in what direction
both
dorsal interossesous muscles
abduct the 4rd digit in what direction
medially (away from midline)
What fingers have PADS?
2, 4, 5
think: we want to move back to midline
Interosseous m are innervated by what?
deep ulnar nerve
Triangular space
circumflex scapular artery
How can we get tennis elbow (elbow tendinitis?
repeated use of our superficial extensor muscles
will send pain down our over lateral humeral epicondyle and posterior forearm
What is lateral epicondylitis?
Repeated flexion and extension of the wrist will strain the lateral humeral epidondyl.
