Gospel definition
Good word, story, report
Romans 1:1-4 “paul and the gospel”
Jesus is the messiah and he died which was prophesied
NT context: 1 Cor 15:3,4
*the few letters that skeptics of Jesus don’t argue with
*texts that were within 4-5 years of Jesus’ death
NT context: Hebrews 1:1
*some ppl think paul wrote
*god is speaking through his son to share his name instead of speaking through prophets
Gospel as Narrative literature
tell a story
Gospels as biography
tell a real story of a real person. factually accurate and written well
gospels as folk literature
fabricated literature that is blown up to prove a point of serve a purpose

OT state laws, NT Jesus explains those laws and deepens them
gospels as wisdom
wise sayings of jesus

calling ppl to figure things out and be better

root of the word = to suffer, Jesus suffered deeply

sect that came out of christianity that believed Jesus was never a real human
why were the unused gospels not included
were not well known and have evidence of being written 100’s of years after Jesus’ death
