Indications/Field Use
Dehydration secondary to heat-related emergency, shock/hypotension/hypovolemia, diabetic ketoacidosis, keep open IV

Contraindications
Pulmonary Edema, severe hypertension

Side effects/Adverse Reactions
May induce pulmonary edema if given to patient with hx of CHF

Adult Dose
200-500cc IV, IO, repeat until BP systolic >90mmHg

Pediatric Dose
20cc/kg IV, IO > 1 month
10cc/kg IV, IO < 1 month
Pedi Cardiogenic Shock 5-10cc/kg IV,IO

Precautions
Depletion of other electroyles when given in large volumes
Dilute oxygen carrying capacity in pts with severe bleeding
If hypotension persists after 200cc, consider alpha 1 agaonist infusion (i.e. Domamine)
