Mechanism of Action
Postive allosteric modulator for GABAa receptors. Binds to benzo receptor sites on chloride channels and potentiales binding and effects of GABA (increases intracellular Cl concentration leading to hyperpolarization of the cell)

Major motor seizures

hypotension, drowsiness, anmesia, respiratory depression, blurred vision, AMS, N/V

Adult Dose
*Seizure 4mg IV, IO
*Pre-med/anxiety, withdrawal 0.5-2mg (0.1mg/kg) slow IV/IO, 1-4mg IM
*Post-Intubation 2-4mg slow IV/IO q 5-10 min

0.05mg/kg slow IV/IO

Precautions
May cause CNS and respiratory depression
Caution with acute alcohol intoxication
