Mechanism of action for Norepinephrine
Protine alpha 1 agonist, produces intense preipheral vasoconstriction, has 10% beta effect, Increaseing heart rate and force of contraction, resulting in an increase in SVR and CO
Indications for Norepinephrine
Cardiogenic shock, shock unresponsive to fluid challenge, hypotensive patient’s with a systolic BP <70 mm/hg
Contraindications for Norepinephrine
Hypovolemic shock
Adverse effects of Norepinephrine
headache, anxiety, dizziness, restlessness, bradycardia, hypertension, chest pain, N/V, renal failure, peripheral cyanosis, tissue Necrosis with extravasation
Precautions of Norepinephrine
deactivated by alkaline solutions, Bretylium May potentiate effects, other sympathomimetic drugs or phosphodiestrease inhibitors may exacerbate dysrhythmias

0.1 - 0.5 mcg/kg/min infusion titrate to desired blood pressure
dose for pedi
0.1 - 2 mcg/kg/min infusion, titrate to desired blood pressure
