Binds to glycoprotein IIb and IIIa receptros preventing the binding of fibrinogen
What are the indications for Eptifbatide
Unstable angina and patient’s undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) used in conjunction with Heparin and Plavix
Contraindications for Eptifbatide
intracranial bleeding, intracranial neoplasm suspected aortic dissection, trauma within 3 months, surgical procedure within 3 weeks, low platelet count, hypertension
Adverse effects for Eptifbatide
head bleed, pulmonary hemorrhage, hypertension, GI bleeding
Precautions for Eptifbatide
Incompatible with Lasix, Effects increased with thrombolytic, oral anticoagulants, ASA, NSAID’s, sever bleeding
Dose for adults
180 mcg/kg over 1 to 2 minutes loading dose 2 mcg/kg infusion for 72 - 96 hrs
