Treponema pertenue
A
Yaws (tropical)-
Skin-skin contact- raspberry like papilloma at site of inoculation followed by smaller yaws on other parts of skin
Crab yaw- painful papillomas on soles of feet lead patients to walk on the side of their feet

Treponema endemicum
A
Bejel- characterized by gummas of the skin, airways and bone
Known as endemic syphilis
Transmitted by nonvenereal routes

Treponema carateum
A
Pinta- tropical skin disease
Variably colored spots on the skin.
Lesions of the 3 stages of pinta are limited to the skin & tend to merge.
Transmission is skin to skin transmission
