the skin forms a protective layer covering the body
(the outer layer of the skin consists of dead cells which are difficult for pathogens to penetrate and the skin also produces sebum which kills bacteria
when the skin has been broken it scabs over to prevent pathogens from entering

the nose contains hair and mucus which can trap pathogens before they enter the breathing system
