How can the immune system cause asthma and allergies/skin rashes?
- by overacting to a pathogen (trying so hard to get pathogen out of body that it destroyed bodies own tissues)

What are examples of non communicable disease?
- coronary heart disease
- asthma
- diabetes
- cancer
What is a tumor?
An abnormal mass of cells caused by uncontrolled growth and division
Why are benign tumours non cancerous?
- confined by a certain space e.g. cell membrane
What cancers can be caused by smoking?
Lung, mouth, stomach, cervical
What cancers can be caused by obesity?
Bowel, liver, kidney
What risk factor isn’t related to lifestyle choices?
Genetics
What is the role of insulin in the body?
Tells cells in the body (e.g. muscle) to convert extra glucose in blood stream into glycogen to prevent too high glucose levels.
