NO GETTING SICK Flashcards
what are the parts of the lymphatic system
the thymus, the spleen, lymph nodes, bone marrow and adenoid and tonsils
what things in the body are there to make sure pathogens don’t get in the body
the skin being acidic, the stomach, ear wax, nose (cilla and mucus),
what happens if it get inside
it must get utilized and destroyed
macrophage
a large white blood cell that eats foreign objects this is one type of non-specific destruction
chem signalling
this is what makes hystimes in the body
types of white blood cells (third line of defence)
lymphocyte, monocyte, basophil, neutrophil, eosinophil
antigen
it shows what a pathogen is
antibodies
these are produced by proteins and these cling to antigens
helper T cells
these T cells help say hey something doesn’t belong and help get that out to everyone
B cells
wants to get the helper T cells so it either gets all the info needed on that one pathogen (memory T cell)or becoming a plasma cell
cytotosic T cell
these guys are like the ninjas of the body they kill any pieces left behind from the macrophage and either by telling the pathogen to die or by killing
