can’t recognize familar objects with 1 form of senses
Akinesia
Can’t start mvmts (major parkinsons impairments
Aphasia
distirurbance to language
Expressive; nonfluent, motor, Broca’s=issues in verbal expression and impairments in object naming & writing (common with R hemi)
Global aphasia
reduced speech & comprehension;
reading & writing are impiared
from blocked MCA
Receptive/fluent/Wernick’s
disturbance in auditory comprehension
reading/writing/word recognition are impaired
Conductive/associate aphasia
Damage to arcuate fasiculus that connects Wernickes & brocas areas
patietns struggle with repeating words & word finds
Apraxia
can’t perform mvmts previsouly learned (but strength/coordination all fine
Ideation apraxia
person does not get Idea of how to do task (like brushing teeth)
Ideomotor apraxia
person can’t do task on command but can do it on their own
Astereognosis
can’t recognize objects by touch alone
Ataxia
uncoordinated mvmt/gaita
thetosis
Slow, involuntary motions
commonly seen in CP
Causalgia
burning sensation common with CRPS
Chorea
rapid, involuntary mvmts
often with Huntingtons
Decerebrate Rigidity
involuntary contraction of extensors of UE/LE due to injury ABOVE vestibular nuclus & below RED nuclues
Decorticate Rigidity
contraction of flexors of UE and extensors of LE (due to damage above red nucleus/brain stem (think corps posture/mummy)
Dysdiadochokinesia
impaired abilty to perform rapid alternating mvmts
common with cerebellar disorders
Dysmetria
inability to judge distances
Glove & stocking anesthesia
gneerally in polyneuropahties where distal nerves damage
Horners syndrome
Ptosis, miosis, anhidrosis
dropping of eyelid, pupil constirtion, lack of sweaeting
Somatagnosia
lack of awarness of relationship of ones own body part or parts of another person
homonymous hemianopsia
deficit of either R or L half of visual field
damage to controlaterl optic tract
bitemporal hemianopsia
deficit of temporal or perhipheral visual fields
due to injury of optic chaism
