Ellsberg and the pentagon papers
Wire tapped 11 officials
Believed the president couldn’t be a criminal
Ellsberg leaked pentagon paper which had details about Vietnam in them and secrets
Was charged with conspiracy
The Break-in
17th June 1972
Discovered by Frank Willis (security guard)
5 burglars- James McCord and 4 Cuban Americans
Wanted to find secrets in order to discredit the democrats and secure votes
Evidence Nixon knew about the break-in…
Defended it by saying the Democrats had been doing it for years
Made a fake recording of him questioning it
Laundered money

Haldeman and Ehrlichman (men across road) resigned
