it’s a double-layer membrane that covers many, but not all, the organs in your abdomen. stomach inside, kidneys outside. this is why “abdominal cavity” and “intraperitoneal space” are not nearly synonymous. the “peritoneal cavity” is in-between the layers. oy vey!
