Read V Coker
Read went to Cokers workshop over a business dispute and was threatened by a group of men. Coker walked towards him and rolled up his sleeves. Used as a precedent for gestures being assault
R v Ireland
Ireland would call women and breathe heavily down the phone and say nothing. As he made these women fear danger he is guilty of assaulting them. Used for silence being assault
R v Constanza
Constanza wrote over 800 letters to a woman, as well as writing on her door and driving past her house. Use for written words being assault
Turberville v Savage
Turberville and savage were having a dispute in the 1600s. Turberville said to savage that if the judge were not here he would kill him. The judge said this was not assault because the condition was not met so there was no imminent threat

Established that immediate does not have to mean instant threat
Logdon v DPP
Logdon used a fake gun to intimidate his victim, judge decided that even though the gun was fake so there was no imminent threat, the fear was real and therefore it’s an assault
