Newton's Laws of Motion Flashcards
Name all of Newton’s Laws of Motion
1st Law of Inertia
2nd Law of Acceleration
3rd Law of Action Reaction
Newton is also known for another Law, what is it??
The Law of Gravitational Pull
What is Newton’s 3rd Law??
The Law of Action Reaction
-For every action, there is an equal, opposite, and simultaneous action.
What is the formula for Newton’s Law of Gravitational Pull??
Fg = G x M1 x M2/D(Squared)
***Because G is so small, we will delete it for this course,
thus Fg = M1 x M2/D(Squared)
What does the G stand for in Newton’s Law of Gravitational Pull?
G = a gravitational constant value
-Extremely small value, we will delete it from this course
What does the M stand for in Newton’s Law of Gravitational Pull?
M = mass of the two objects pulling on each other.
What does the D stand for in Newton’s Law of Gravitational Pull?
The distance between the center of gravity of the two objects.
What is Newton’s 1st law?
The Law of Inertia
-A body in motion or at rest tends to stay in motion or at rest respectively, until it is acted upon by some net outside force.
What is Newton’s 2nd Law?
The law of Acceleration (F=MA)
-A change in a body’s momentum (momentum = MV) will occur in the same direction as, and is proportional to, the force that caused the change. Also, any observed change in momentum will be inversely related to the body’s mass.
What is the formula for Momentum?
Momentum = MV
