Difference between strength & power Flashcards
Strength
The maximum amount of FORCE one is capable of exerting over a given distance at one time…usually at a given/controlled velocity(when measured in a lab).
Power
Work divided by time. May be qualitatively described as “explosive strength” or the “RATE OF DOING WORK OR PRODUCING ENERGY”.
What is the equation for Strength?
(F x D)max or 1RM
What is the equation for Power?
F x D/T or F x V
What is the equation for Velocity?
Velocity = D/T

all the powerlifting events(misuse of the term “power” here)
