Neurology Flashcards
What does the ilioinguinal N of the lumbar plexus innervate?
Branches into anterior scrotal N that innervates anterior scrotum and anterior labial N that innervates anterior labia majora
What does the genital branch of the genitofemoral N from the lumbar plexus supply?
Scrotum in males and labia majora in females
What does the obturator N from the lumbar plexus innervate?
Innervates medial thigh musculature
What does the lumbosacral trunk supply?
Feeds into sacral plexus
Which nerves are in the sacral plexus?
Superior gluteal, inferior gluteal, muscular branches, posterior femoral cutaneous, perforating cutaneous branches, pudendal, sciatic and pelvic splanchnic nerves
What does the superior gluteal N innervate?
Innervates gluteus medius and gluteus minimus
Which nerves carry L4-S1 spinal branches?
Superior gluteal N and nerve to quadratus femoris
What does the inferior gluteal N innervate?
Gluteus maximus
Which nerves carry L5-S2 spinal levels?
Inferior gluteal N and N to obturator internus
What are the muscular branches of the sacral plexus?
N to quadratus femoris, nerve to obturator internus and nerve to piriformis (S1-2)
Describe the posterior femoral cutaneous N
S1-3
To the buttock and upper most region of posterior thigh
What do the perforating cutaneous branches innervate?
S2-3
To the medial buttock
Describe the pudendal N
S2-4
To structures of perineum
Produces the perineal N, inferior rectal N, and the dorsal N of the penis in males (and clitoris in females)
What does the inferior rectal N innervate?
Innervates anal canal inferior to the pectinate line and external anal sphincter
What does the dorsal N of the penis innervate?
Travels along the dorsum of the penis
