Angiology Flashcards
What are the branches of the abdominal aorta?
Testicular/ovarian A, inferior mesenteric, median sacral, common iliac A
What does the ovarian A supply?
Branches into ovarian and tubular branches that supply ovary and uterine tubes
Describe the superior rectal A
Branches of the IMA to supply the superior aspect of the rectum
Anastomoses with middle and inferior rectal A
Describe the superficial and deep external pudendal A
Branch of the femoral A (from external iliac) and produce anterior scrotal (male) and anterior labial A (female) which supply the scrotum and labia majora
Which arteries are part of the anterior division of the internal iliac A?
Umbilical A, obturator, inferior vesical (male), uterine (female), vaginal, middle rectal, inferior gluteal, internal pudendal arteries
What does the internal iliac supply?
Pelvic organs, gluteal muscles and perineum
What does the superior vesical A supply?
Branches off umbilical A to supply superior aspect of urinary bladder
What does the obturator A supply?
Pelvic muscles, ilium, femoral head, muscles of medial thigh
What does the inferior vesical A supply?
Seminal vesicles, prostate gland, ductus deferens, ureters, urinary bladder
Analogous to vaginal A in female
Branches into prostatic branch and artery to ductus deferens
Describe the uterine A
Travels medially in the broad L of the uterus Supplies uterus, uterine tubes, ovaries and ureters Homologous to artery of ductus deferens Has vaginal (vagina and cervix), ovarian and tubular branches
What does the middle rectal A supply?
Inferior rectum, anal canal and seminal vesicles in males
What are the terminal branches of the anterior division of the internal iliac?
Inferior gluteal and internal pudendal
What does the inferior gluteal A supply?
Coccygeus, three levator ani muscles, piriformis, quadratus femoris, upper most posterior thigh muscles, gluteus maximus, sciatic N
What is the course of the internal pudendal A?
Exits pelvic cavity through greater sciatic foramen turns around Ischial spine and enters perineum through lesser sciatic foramen before entering the pudendal canal
What are the branches of the internal pudendal A?
Both: inferior rectal and perineal A
Males: artery of bulb of penis, deep A of penis, dorsal A of penis
Females: artery of vestibule of vagina, deep A of clitoris and dorsal A of clitoris
