Points are scored based on when eye opening occurs: Spontaneously= 4 points To speech = 3 points To pain = 2 points Doesn't open = 1 point

Points are given based on response to stimulus as follows: Obeys commands = 6 points Localizes pain = 5 points Withdraws = 4 points Abnormal flexion = 3 points Extensor response = 2 points No response = 1 point
How is verbal response scored on the Glasgow coma scale?
Points are given based on verbal response provided, as follows:
Oriented = 5 points
Confused conversation = 4 points
Inappropriate words = 3 points
Incomprehensible sounds = 2 points

Absent = 0 points
Below 100 bpm = 1 points
Above 100 bpm = 2 points
How is grimace scored on the APGAR?
No response to stimulation = 0 points
Minimal response to stimulation = 1 points
Pulls away, sneezes or coughs = 2 points
How is Activity/ muscle tone scored on the APGAR?
No movement, ‘floppy’ = 0 points
Flexing the arms and legs = 1 points
Active movement = 2 points
How is respiration scored on the APGAR?
Absent = 0 points
Slow, irregular = 1 points
Vigorous cry = 2 points
