brown sequard’s syndrome sensory loss
injury to half of the spinal column - lose pain and temperature on 1 side but still have sense of touch and location
ascending tract
relays messages back to brain

down to extremities

cranial nerves I - XII
CI - C3
controls movement in and above neck
C4 - C6
at the level of the shoulder and diaphragm, for breathing independently
C7 - C8
at the level of the fingers and hand grasp to perform self care and transfers with arms
T1 - 6
provides stability for balance when sitting
T6 - 12
is for thoracic muscles and upper back for respiratory and transfer strength
L1 - 2
at the level of legs and pelvis
L3 - 4
is hamstrings and ankles

provides protection for brain
