DDx of facial pain
A
Common:
- dental infection
Not to be missed
- CVD: AMI, carotid aneurysm
- Vascular: temporal arteritis
- Malignancies: ear, nose, throat, larynx cancers
- ENT: Salivary gland calculi
- Infection: herpes zoster (involving the eye)
Often missed:
- TMJ dysfunction
- Neurological: Trigeminal neuralgia, Glossopharyngeal neuralgia, MS
- Opthamology: optic neuritis, acute angle glaucoma
- Medications: amiodarone,
Other:
- Cellulitis / Ludwigs Angina
