What is the first line treatment for status epilepticus?
- Benzos (Ativan)

- Barbiturates

What is the definition of a Transient Ischemic Attack?
a temporary loss of neurological function that resolves completely in < 24 hours
When would you do a head CT with contrast? Without contrast?
CT with contrast==> infection or tumor
CT without contrast=normally done unless infection or tumor are suspected
What vessel is most commonly involved in an occlusion stroke?
Middle cerebral A
A young pt (<35) that lives in a crowded place like military or jail presents with a fever and a petechial rash. What is suspected?
neisseria meningitides (meningococcemia)

-eye opening: 4=spontaneous 3=to voice 2=to pain 1=no response
-verbal 5=oriented 4=confused 3=inappropriate words 2=unintelligible sounds 1=none
-motor: 6=follows commands 5=localizes to pain 4=withdraws from pain 3=flexed 2=extended 1=none
