Nervous System pt. 1 Flashcards
2 PRIMARY divisons of the N.S.?
CNS & PNS
function of the nervous system
coordinate/communicate b/w different organs/bodily functions
Sensory Division:
segment of the PNS
Afferent division
carries signals from peripheral nerves to the CNS
Somatic Sensory Divison:
a part of the Sensory Division
Peripheral nerves that recieve signals from skin, muscles joints, bones
Visceral Sensory Divison:
A part of the sensory division
recieves signals from viscera/thoracic-abdon cavities
Motor Divison:
2nd segment of the PNS
transmits signals from CNS to muscles/viscera
Somatic Motor Divison:
transmits signals to skeletal muscles & volunatry muscle contraction from CNS to PNS
Viseral Motor Division:
transmits involuntary autonoimic functions to cardiac & smooth muscle from CNS to PNS
2 subdivisions of the Viseral Motor Division:
sympatheitc & parasymathetic N.S.
