nervous system Flashcards
what is the function of the nervous system
its function is to receive and hep the body to respond to stimuli
what is a stimulus
a stimulus is a change in the environment which causes a reaction in a
living organism.
The nervous system is made of millions of nerve cells
called what
called neurons
The nervous system is divided into two,
name these two
the Central nervous system (Brain)
the Peripheral nervous system (Spinal
cord).
what doe nerve cells do
Nerve cells transmit electrical impulses from the sense organs to the brain for processing and implementing an appropriate response.
Cells found in the sense organs are responsible for detecting the
stimulus.
what does we call tis
receptor cells
name the 5 senses and their sense organ
smell - nose sight - eyes hearing - ears taste - tongue feeling or touch - skin
