Nervous System Flashcards
I don’t what ports does the nervous system consist and what is its function?
The nervous system controls all the body parts, systems, organs and cells.
It consists of the brain the spinal cord and the nerves.
What are the four parts of the brain?
The frontal lobe for emotions
The parietal lobe for senses
The temporal lobe for hearing
And the occipital lobe for vision
What is the cerebrum?
Largest part. Enables to think, feel, speak and remember. Two halves . Left brain and right brain
What is the cerebellum?
Under the cerebrum. In charge of balance and coordinating all of the muscles. It works all the time and we may not know it.
What is the medulla?
Next to cerebellum. Connects brain with the spinal cord. Keeps heartbeat and your breathing regular. Sees to lungs, heart and other organs work in harmony with the rest of the body.
What is the spinal cord and what is its function?
Long nerve tissue and extension of brain situated in and protected by vertebrae. Connects brain to nerves. Consists of nerve fibers and nerve cells. Controls reflex movements.
What are nerves and what are their functions?
Five is wrong together in great numbers. Connects the brain and spinal cord with entire body. They are sensory nerves and motor nerves. Pick up information and send it up to brain.
What does sensory nerves do?
From parts to brain
What does motor nerves do?
From brain to parts
What is the reflex arc?
Nerve impulse from pain receptor goes up
Sensory neuron to spinal cord called cross section
Integration center called interneuron
Another impulse immediately goes down the motor neuron
To muscle which quickly moves the hand away from the pain.
Explain the reflex arc shortly.
Receptor Sensory neuron Integration center Motor neuron Effector
What is a reflex?
And action we take even before the brain knows about it.
