Nerve Blocks Topo Flashcards
What can be blocked by mandibular nerve block?
Salivary glands, mastication muscles, lower teeth and lip, tongue
Nerve block of paralumbar anesthesia?
L1-L2 (iliohypogastric and ilioinginal nn.)
Which nerve anesthetized when injecting into L2?
Paralumbar nn.
Anesthesia of tibial n.?
Proximal to calcaneus. Btw. DDF and SDF
CANINE: Common peroneal (fibular) nerve block:
Feel nerve on head of fibula, inject just proximal to it Deep peroneal (apparently) - Groove btw long dig extensor and peroneus longus, halfway btw stifle and tarsus (watch out for saphenous vein)
CANINE: Anesthesia of median n.?
Medial. Distal 1/3 of forearm btw. Flexor carpi radialis and SDF
EQUINE: Common peroneal nerve block:
Lateral aspect, 12 cm proximal to tuber calcanei btw long and lateral digital extensors (nerve not palpable)
EQUINE: Palmar digital n. block?
Which nerve is not blocked during palmar digital block?
R. pulvinus – Proximal to coronary band. (Palmar aspect next to cartilage ungulare)
R. palmaris – Halfway btw. Coronary band and fetlock joint
-Dorsal branch (not blocked)
EQUINE: Distal metacarpal block?
At level of distal end of splint bones. (4-point block)
[blocks fetlock, pastern, coffin joints]
EQUINE: Proximal metacarpal block?
8-10cm distance to carpus
EQUINE: Anesthesia of median n.?
Medial. Proximal to elbow joint (palpable next to chestnut)
