What cancer is associated with APC mutations?
colorectal caner
this is a tumor suppressor
What is the significance of the tumor marker alkaline phosphatase?
mets to bone, liver, Paget disease of bone, seminoma (germ cell tumor of the testes)

What tumors may beta hCG
hydatidiform moles and choriocarcinomas. gestational trophoblastic disease
What is the significance of CEA?
carcinoembryonic antigen. very nonspecific but produced by 70% of colorectal and pancreatic cancers. also produced by gastric, breast, and medullar thryoid carcinomas
What is the significance of S-100?
secreted by cells of neural crest origin. think melanomas, neural tumors, schwannomas, langerhans cell histiocytosis
What is the significnce of TRAP
tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase. Made by hairy cell leukemia (B cell neoplasm)
