He argued that the m/c had recognised that skills based on education, professional and social qualifications are important, where as the w/c only have the ability to sell their labour, as a result it leads to inequality in the workplace as w/c have insecure jobs

They applied Weber’s view of society to race relations in Britain, they claimed that BAME experienced low class and low status, if you add racism they have low political power aswell. An alinated black underclass is formed

They claimed that the M/c and U/c are in the primary. Secondary labour market is W/c , Women and BAME, sec labour have low status, low class and low party power
What did Goldthrope say the Middle and Upperclass were more likely to do for their children?
They are more likely to protect them from slipping down the socioeconomic ladder, through tutors, private schools Etc
What did Goldthrope create with Weberian ideas?
A measure of social class which included variables such as employment, relationships, life chances and conditions of work. Allowed a more realistic view of class than Marx’s measure
