- pre-vertebral
- deep cervical
- carotid sheath/vascular compartment
What is found in the pre-tracheal fascia?
Thyroid Parathyroid Pharynx Larynx Trachea Oesophagus
What is found in the Carotid sheath?
Major blood vessels and the vagus nerve
What is found in the pre-vertebral fascia?
cervical vertebrae and postural muscles
Which are the arteries of the neck?
Common carotid
ECA which branches in neck
At what vertebral level does the common carotid divide?
C4-C5
What are the veins of the neck
IJV and EJV
Describe the Course of the IJV
- IJV
- Arises from the jugular sinus In the brain
- It passes through the jugular foramen.
- Merges with the subclavian vein to form the brachiocephalic vein which then drains into the IJV.
Describe the course of the EJV
- EJV superficial vein of the scalp and face
- Drains into the subclavian vein
Which are the nerves of the neck
-Vagus and phrenic
