Navigation Flashcards
1
Q
How many sensors are part of the ADIRS?
A
‐ Four types of sensors: • Pitot probes (3) • Static pressure probes (STAT) (6) • Angle of attack sensors (AOA) (3) • Total air temperature probes (TAT) (2)
2
Q
Meaning of amber IR FAULT light
A
Steady: the respective IR is lost
Flashing: the attitude and heading information may be recovered in ATT mode.
3
Q
Full Scale Deflection on ND
A
VOR: Full-scale deflection is 10°/ 1 dot = 2° of dev.
ILS approach: Full-scale deflection is 2½°/ 1 dot = ½°of dev.
RNAV (5 dot CDI): FSD = 5NM displacement from selected course
Glide Slope scale: FSD = about 0.5-0.7° of deviation.
4

A
- navigation (active and inactive)
- performance
- airline modifiable information
- magnetic variation
- Crew stored information
5
Q
Components of an ILS
A
- localizer
- glide path
- marker beacons
- approach lights
6
Q
Benefits of RNAV
A
- allows aircraft to fly more direct routes
- no longer need to fly over ground based nav
- allows for reduced vertical and horizontal separation
