Why was Nato set up?

By the end of the 1940s, many Westerners were beginning
to worry about the large armies which Russia had
stationed in Eastern Europe. They used this fear to set up an alliance called NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation).

Why was the Warsaw Pact created?

Firstly, it was created to compete with the west alliance, NATO and counterbalance it. Secondly USSR used it to keep controll of eastern Europe and gain some safety.
