Define:
A
Gastric intubation providing access to the stomach via the nasal passage.
Used for diagnostic and therapeutic access to the stomach
Through the nose and into the stomach but drain externally.
Large tube is better for drainage but is very uncomfortable and the smaller tubes are good for feeding.

Indications:
A
To decompress that stomach/GI tract especially if there is an obstruction (used when there is an ileus and in peritonitis)
For gastric lavage
To administer drugs/feed

PAIN
Rare: stomach perforation necrosis (nasopharyngeal) tracheal and duodenal intubation loss of electrolytes oesophagitis
